We rolled into Sun Valley in the rain and enjoyed rain each and every day. We stored the RV at the local airport. The condo we stayed at didn’t have any parking for the RV and after calling all over town, the best deal was the airport. The Airport parking lot is located behind the Hailey Jail, so we felt pretty secure leaving it there.
We stayed in a great condo in Ketchum and didn’t know what to do with all that space! We visited the forest service office and did lots of recon on places to stay in the future. There are some beautiful dispersed camping areas. I can’t wait to get back there. We found some great biking and hiking for future trips. Many of the trails were closed due to the excessive amount of rain.
Ketchum is a delightful little town and I can’t wait to come back. We enjoyed a great concert with The English Beat performing live at Whiskey Jacques. We had front row seats, easy access to the bar and lots of dancing and singing. If every concert was that fun, I would see live music all the time!
Ketchum/Sun Valley has what they call a ‘slack season’ where all the locals go on vacation in between ski and summer. We hit the slack season timing and found many restaurants and stores closed for the week. We will do a little more research next time we visit and make sure to not visit during slack. Thankfully the Starbucks was open and we were able to have a beer – I now, a liquor serving Starbucks in a VERY cool building.
Special thanks to Brian and Mindy for putting us up in their great VRBO. If you are looking for a rental in Ketchum that is within walking distance of everything, this is the place.
Next stop Bend, Oregon.
