We made it – 183 days and all is just fine. We are currently in Denver at Bear Creek Lake Campground. Close to our old neighborhood of Green Mountain, fun mountain biking and wide open green spaces. We spent last 2 weeks at Cherry Creek Campground in Aurora.
Our time in Colorado has been spent catching up with family and friends. After so much time in the desert it was nice to see trees and grass again.
We had a fun happy hour with a big group of Nomads at Backcountry Brewing, Tim, Kerri, Jason, Jes, Jen, Adam, Anna (asolojourner, van_tramp, huckleberry_jenn, huckleberry_adam, allpointsinbetween_jes, allpointsinbetween_jason, smallhousebigworld). Always fun to meet up throughout our travels and talk about routes, challenges and whats next.
A few of our highlights in the last few weeks;
Best Local Craft Beer – Comrade Brewing’s Superpower IPA This is the best beer we have tasted since San Diego. The brewer is from Boneyard Beer – our favorite home town Bend Brewery. India Pale Ale with loads of Pacific Northwest hops. Huge pine and grapefruit hop aroma with flavors of citrus, balanced bitterness with a light malt character. Pours a brilliant gold with a dense white head. Fear the power.
Best Happy Hour – P.F. Chang’s I know, surprising! But the drinks were great and the appetizer menu was amazing. I think that is the first chain we have been to in months (as long as you don’t count Five Guys).
Best Hike – Chatauqua Flat Irons – Go early and go often. So many twists and turns you could be up there for the entire day.
We have another week in town and then no idea where we will land next. We are working our way back toward Bend by July 1st. Anything we should see between here and there? Please drop us a line, we would love to hear from you.
