2 Wander Away

San Diego – 30 Days Of Catching Up

We stayed in San Diego 15 months ago at Mission Bay RV Park and loved it.  So coming back again was an easy decision.  We stayed in almost the same spot on the bay with a great view of the water.  The best way to see the sunset over Mission Beach each evening.

We spent many an evening watching the sun set…

While there we made some new friends and caught up with old friends.  It was a great month and which flew by.  We walked, hiked, rode bikes, drank beer, watched sunsets and and ate a TON of Mexican food (thank you Rubio’s).

The only thing missing – our former neighbors Kate and Iain (who are off traveling in Europe).  Thankfully we had a few friends to fill the void (Eric Rasmussen, Jennifer and Das Nealy, John and Becky, Kurt Kuhl, Meg and Donnie, Kirsten and Harry) and of course the local friends in town (Beth and Dan Heires, Tiffany Fisher, Jen and Dave Sexton).

The Heires – Emily, Beth and Dan

Sini, Dave, Mike, Donna, John and Becky – toughing out a sunset on the water (not every day is perfect)

John, Becky, Kurt, Dave – enjoying another happy hour at PB Tap House

The great thing about a second visit is not feeling the every pressing need to ‘tourist’ all the time.  We had a relaxing visit and barely did anything new.  We have been to La Jolla and Torrey Pines and many of the breweries.  While we still visited a few breweries (of course) it wasn’t the focus of the visit, as it was last year.

Beth, Dan, Shannon and Dave – enjoying a Temecula Wine Tasting Tour

New things we did this year included an evening of wine touring in Temecula (super fun)! More time in Ocean Beach beer tasting (loved Kilowatt, Pizza Port, Modern Times). Hiking in Mission Hills Regional Park and more time at Liberty Station and their new food court (yum).

Too quickly our time was up and moved on down the road for the next adventure. We had so much fun hanging out with the Nealys, John and Becky and Kurt, that we coordinated a meet up in 2018 in Mission Bay.  We want to fill all the spaces around us with friends!
